Thanks Jackie, my results were fine. However I do have to go see a Nephrologist as they say my kidney function is down. I am going to check with my consultant if I am ok to have contrast next time.. ?

Hi I have plain water now prior to the scan but still have injected contrast dye( they do use one that is safer for my kidney now). My creatinine is usually anywhere from 132-148! No one has ever said what it should be with one remaining kidney with tumours in it, so I was interested to hear of your levels. I drink my 2litre of water every day, plus green tea and rice milk on cereals, so I do get my fluid intake but my creatinine is always above 132. Hope your scan results are good! xx

Hi Karen
Thank you, I am sure I will be fine, but I just have to keep busy till Monday. I am in Nova Scotia, originally from Wales, I would love to keep in touch with you.

My Creatinine was 133 pre operative a year last October.. and then it was down to 112/114 this time last year then down to 98 and then 95 last October.. so the 112 today was not really high at all. I made an assumption that from now one I wouldn't get the dye due to being down to one Kidney.. I drink Redicat before the scan and that is it. I may ask my specialist next time I see him in March about this. Might be an idea even if it done with the dye once a year.

I am still only seeing my Urologist as the cancer was contained, and the whole kidney removed. My Urologist said that it was up to me, but didn't think I needed to see an Oncolgist.

I would be interested to hear more of your situation. I will email you.
Thanks

Hi Gemma - we all know about that anxiety, I hope your GP has good news for you on Monday. I see you are having your scans without contrast - is this because your Creatinine levels have been too high? I ask because I am still scanned every 3 months, and I have to drink 2 large glasses of clear liquid, AND I also get injected with the dye. When I asked about this, my doctors assured me that the 'dye' has been amended recently, so that it is much easier on my one kidney. As long as I drink lots of water before & after the scans, my docs prefer the contrast, as they get better images. My creatinine reading was slightly high at 113 last fall, but my oncologist said this is fine when living with 1 kidney. He said it wouldn't become a major problem unless it got closer to the 200 reading mark. I'm interested to hear how others are doing with their creatinine and if they have contrast with their testing.
All the best to you.
